Highton Clinical Pilates

We love keeping you active, healthy and happy!

Our clinical pilates service is delivered by our highly experienced Osteopathy staff out at our Rehablab.studio location.

Pilates is a form of exercise that was developed during, and refined post, world war one by Joseph Pilates. He coined his new found exercise regime as ‘The Art of Contrology’. Initially it was performed as ballistic exercises over a large range of motion, this has since been refined to create a repertoire that is appropriate for the general population. But the principles by which it was developed still hold true. Modern day Pilates has a particular focus on deep core endurance, strength and ultimately control. This control is then challenged by a range of movements/exercises completed against resistance or body weight.

Our Clinical Pilates instructors pride themselves on providing specific individualised programs for our clients to ensure they get the best out of their classes whether that be for fitness or rehabilitation of an injury or chronic condition.

Why should you try pilates?

Easy! Research has shown that Pilates may lead to improvements in:

  • Whole body strength and endurance
  • Neuromuscular control
  • Mental Health Status
  • Body awareness, mindfulness and well-being
  • Balance, posture and co-ordination
  • Flexibility
  • Lumbo-pelvic stability and core control ‘Centreing’

Located out at Rehablab.studio, the Pilates room has equipment that needs to be used in a particular manner. It is therefore important that before you join any classes you book in a one on one introductory session with either Peta or Renae to ensure you are ready to start your pilates journey.

If you have any questions or would like more information on how our Pilates program can help you please contact [email protected] and either Peta or Renae will be in touch.
